The 1821 census report states "In the Parish of West Skull is the Village of this name, containing 40 houses and 176 inhabitants. In this Parish are West Calf Island, called also Leaerer, containing 1 house and 7 inhabitamts; Middle Calf Island, containing 5 houses and 30 inhabitants; Illane Hummisk, called also Horse Island, containing 11 houses and 74 inhabitants; Goat Island, containing 2 houses and 8 inhabitants; Castle Island, containing 14 houses and 97 inhabitants; and Long Island, called also Innisfad, containing 42 houses and 230 inhabitants."
