A vision of Ireland from 1821 onwards.
Including maps, statistical trends and historical descriptions.
This section of the database contains statistical data from surveys of Britain pre-dating the first census in 1801. The information is generally at parish-level, but the units sometimes correspond very poorly with the 19th century parishes mapped in the GIS. The information mostly consists either of very crude head counts of some fraction of the population, or amounts of tax paid by different areas. All this information has been provided by collaborators, as either machine-readable datasets or typescript transcriptions, and in general we currently hold only samples for one or two counties.
