Here we are presenting statistics for a historical unit, which may have changed its boundaries significantly during the period covered.

Preferred Name:
DURROW
Unit Type:
Irish Civil Parish
Date created:

Date abolished:

Unit ID:
12859697
Authorities:
1831 Census of Ireland, Table [1], 'Abstract of Answers and Returns under the Population Acts, Ireland:- Enumeration 1831.'.

Notes:

The 1851 Index to Townlands (p.923) lists Durrow as being a single parish in four counties, four baronies and three poor law unions. However, this is clearly wrong: based on the Lewis Gazetteer and census parish-level tables, we define instead two parishes, each in two counties and two baronies. Poor law unions are still based on the 1851 Index, based on how the entry lists information in rows. Between 1831 and 1851, the part of Durrow that was in Queen's County/Laoighis was moved from Upper Ossory to Clarmallagh barony.
