In 1887, John Bartholomew's Gazetteer of the British Isles described Tacumshin like this:

Tacumshin, coast par., SE. co. Wexford, 3 miles S. of Killinick, and 11 miles S. of Wexford, 3153 ac., pop. 632; P.O.; contains Tacumshin Lough (2 miles by 1), which is connected with the sea by a narrow outlet.
