Descriptive gazetteer entries

In 1887, John Bartholomew's Gazetteer of the British Isles described Pendragon Castle like this:

Pendragon Castle, ruined fortress, Kirkby Stephen par., Westmorland, on river Eden, near SE. border of co., 4 miles S. of Kirkby Stephen; was founded in the time of Vortigern, and finally dismantled in 1681.

This is the only descriptive gazetter entry we have found, but you may be able to find further references to Pendragon Castle by doing a full-text search here.
