Amesbury, par. and town, S. Wilts, 7½ m. N. of Salisbury, on river Avon, 5936 ac., pop. 1127; P.O., T.O.; contains the seat of A. Abbey. Market-day, Friday. Stonehenge is 2 miles W. of Amesbury.
