Descriptive Gazetteer Entry for Benvigory

Benvigory, a lofty hill in Kildalton parish, E side of Islay island, Argyllshire. Here about 1600 the Macdonalds were severely defeated by the invader Hector Maclean, who afterwards ravaged the island.
