Cuckfield, market town and par., Sussex, 12 miles NW. of Lewes -- par., 11,275 ac., pop. 4964; town, 837 ac., pop. 1713; P.O., T.O., 1 Bank. Market-day, Friday; is situated on an eminence, in a charming country of pasture and grove. Besides the weekly markets, three fairs are held annually for cattle and horses. Cuckfield Park is 1 mile SE., and to the W. is the old Elizabethan mansion of Cuckfield Place.
