In 1887, John Bartholomew's Gazetteer of the British Isles described Muckamore like this:
Muckamore, Grange of, par., in co. and 1 ½ mile S. of Antrim, on Six Mile Water and Lough Neagh, 4027 ac., pop. 1077; P.O., T.O., called Muckamore; contains seat of Muckamore Abbey.
