Place:

Dolla  County Tipperary

In 1837, Samuel Lewis's Topographical Dictionary of Ireland described Dolla like this:

DOLLA, a parish, in the barony of UPPER ORMOND, county of TIPPERARY, and province of MUNSTER, 5 miles (S. S. E.) from Nenagh; containing 1041 inhabitants. This parish is situated at the termination of the Anglesey new road from Tipperary to Nenagh, and intersected by a small river: there is a large tract of mountain bog. ...

Traverston, the seat of T. Going, Esq., is pleasingly situated in an extensive and well-planted demesne. It is a rectory, in the diocese of Killaloe, and is appropriate as a mensal to that see: the tithes amount to £161. 10. 9. There are some remains of the old church on the demesne of Kilboy. The poor's fund of Kilmore extends to this parish.
