In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Llangoed like this:
LLANGOED CASTLE, a seat in the NE of Radnor; 5½ miles NNW of Talgarth. It belonged to the Wogans, and passed to the Williamses and the Macuamaras.
