1935 General Election: A reduced majority for the Conservatives

The National Government was now led by a Conservative, Stanley Baldwin. They obtained a reduced but still large majority. Labour performed notably better than in 1931, while the Liberals continued their decline, winning only 21 seats. Ramsay McDonald stood as "National Labour" but lost his seat.
