HESP-ALYN, a reach of the river Alyn, near Kilken, in Flint. The river here suddenly doubles on its course, and runs underground for about ½ a mile. Drayton says in reference to it, - " Then Alen makes approache-who, earnest to be there, For haste twice under earth her crystall heade doth ruune."
(John Marius Wilson, Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales (1870-72))
