Descriptive Gazetteer Entry for Killyleagh

Killyleagh, seaport town and par., E. co. Down, on W. shore of Lough Strangford, 4 miles E. of Crossgar ry. sta. and 6 miles N. of Downpatrick - par., 11,762 ac., pop. 5488; town, pop. 1835; P.O., T.O., called Killyleigh, 1 Bank. Market-day, Friday. The creek has been improved as a harbour by Lord Dufferin, the chief proprietor of the town; in vicinity of town is the seat of Killyleagh Castle.
